You've given us just short of no information at all. What does the car do when you turn the key? Do you hear the starter engage, or the engine try to turn over, or just nothing? Does the starter just click and nothing happens? If nothing happens at all, have you had the alternator and battery checked out by a parts shop?
..like I said, we need more information. It's like telling a doctor - 'I've got some pain, but then I can make it go away. Diagnose.'

Same thing happened on my '98 Dakota with a Nippon-Denso starter, the solenoid contacts were worn down to the point where apparently there was no good electrical connection, 9 times out of ten there was a click then nothing.
Could also be a 'dead spot', but not sure how that works.
In any case, replace your starter, problem solved.

Should last the what, max 2 weeks before your next paycheck. It'll probably last for a bit (the Dakota had been on the same crappy starter with the clicking issue for at least 1.5 years), just may be harder to start as time goes on, more trying.
I wouldn't worry too much about it.
As far as starters, Autozone/Advance Auto/O'Reilly's/Napa reman' starters have been pretty hit or miss around here, some get 'quality' units, others have 6 defective in a row. I'd suggest a Nissan or Bosch reman.

I am 95% sure it is your starter solenoid. I had the same symptoms as you and finally tracked it to that. The starter worked fine when I put power right to it and avoided the solenoid. I ended up replacing the whole thing, because I figured at 100K I could use a new starter as well. Also the price for a solenoid was $40 and for the whole thing was $130.
