I almost got caught up in one of these scams at work. We got a phone call supposedly from a deaf person using a relay system. They gave us credit card #'s to order parts. The parts total was about $10k.....I kinda hesitated because I would never phone numbers, names, addresses, and most of all cause I never got to speak to someone directly. We then called up and found out the credit cards they gave us were stolen. By this time we knew it was a scam. So I kept going along with it and told him the parts were in. He then faxed us address to ship and it was somewhere in Nigeria. Their next relay call I told em the cards were no good and they just hung up. We would have shipped out $6k worth of parts, never to be seen again. ITS CALLED THE NIGERIAN SCAM....

Hello,
Thanks for your mail, I have forwarded your vehicle information to my client, as you can see am very fast on this transaction because the vehicle is needed fast, my client is so anxious to have the Vehicle.but Due to time constraint on the fact that we are running short of time,
I am pleased to inform you that after deliberating with my client who
just contacted me now based on the state of the vehicle in the
description you gave me plus that of the ad, he has finally accepted
your price, hopes the engine is serviced and oil changed as he cant
wait to see the vehicle parked in his garage.
However,My client made out a certified cashier's check of($23,000)
before he traveled to London on a Business Trip, for a previous vehicle
and its shipment charges etc,but it was unfortunately sold. The amount
on the check he deposited for the vehicle is bigger than what should be
paid to you now, so the check is now meant for the total expenses
which includes the purchase of your vehicle, the pick up of the vehicle from
its present location and the shipping charges/other necessary
shipping arrangements.
However he has instructed us to carry on with this transaction; but
due to company policy this check has to be made out in this amount to
you because company policy only allows a refund payment on one
cashier check. So you're required to deduct the cost of your vehicle
($14,800)and send the balance of($8,200) to my client shipper agent via western union money transfer or money gram transfer to enable him offsett
shipping charges/pick-up arrangements.
After payment has reached you and balance sent back to him, our agent
will come for the pick up on an open vehicle and then drive to a pre
paid shipper for shipment, and also conclude other necessary shipping
arrangement so you dont have to bother yourself about the pick up and
shipping arrangements, while title papers and other necessary documets
will be sent by you via regular mail Delivery to my customer.
Please Confirm this and provide FULL NAME,ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER
for check payment to be delivered to you via regular mail delivery.
Best regards to you,
Bill.

this was after aswering his questions about the cars condition.
did any one who sold their cars before, did you get this kind of e mail?
Please, this BS is so crooked; you have to read it sideways. Tell him sorry you decline because his mothers still in your back seat. I HATE scammers…

if they are offering more money than you want, then its obviously a scam. who the heck would pay more just for YOUR item? and then they say theyre willing to pay since they need it urgent, and when you take your sweet as$ time, they dont say anything. i mean there are tons of others probably selling the same thing with less money. where are these scam artitist coming from?

It's just like phishing scams. Scammers will send out thousands of messages and if they only get 1 or 2 people, than it makes it worth their time. Most, if not all of it comes from abroad like Nigeria or Eastern Europe.

Definite scam! I ran into the same type of thing on e-bay, a guy was gonna sell me a new Apple G5 quad for $950 but the money had to be sent Western Union to Romania... yeah that didn't happen.
