I guess.....

if everything else is in good working order, just get a compression test and pop in the NOS!! it'll add more stress on the engine in the long run(depending on how much yo use it), but hey you only live once! I'm sure the other NOS guys will have more experienced input, and you can also do a search I remember this question being asked a few weeks back.

The dealer....

can do a compression test for you. as for rebuilding the engine.....$1g won't do you any good for a "performance" rebuild.... but if you're only going 50-65 shot the stock engine will be fine. I've seen full V6 "performance" rebuilds range from $3-5k(Crower, Heikimen, etc.). if you're that worried about the current engine blowing, just buy a used VE for backup just in case, but I doubt it will happen unless your nitrous setup is faulty! I'm not sure about the VE engine, but I think us VG guys can swap in the VG-T pistons and rods which I think can stand HIGH HP levels and prevemnt "burnt" pistons resulting from NOS and cost a lot less than the Crower/JE combo. Once again this is just what I know....

Try to talk to DonInTexas, he's done the VQ engine/trans rebuild and NOS so he's the most knowledgeable in this feild as far as I know.

Well the fastest maxima I have seen used the JWT nitrous ECU upgrade and ran low 13's. Also the SE-R's run the best with the JWT nitrous ecu. The $1500 price is for the regular ecu upgrade and the nitrous daughter board + the hardware kit. But if you just wanted the ECU + nitrous program I believe its around $925-950 for that. Its the easiest most reliable nitrous controller.

How would the JC Whitney NOS kit work with the JWT Motherboard? Or is the JWT NOS kit specific for the the JWT ECU?

The JWT nitrous motherborad.....

fits into the JWT "modified" ECU. it should work with any shot of NOS as long as you let JWT know so they can properly program it. JWT uses the same NOS kit that JCW(jcwhitney) sells, but the JCW kit doesn't include upgraded ECU.

in conclusion yes you could combine the JWT nitrous ECU with the JCW nitrous kit as long as you tell JWT to properly program the ECU for the shot of NOS you're running.
