How good is the GTECH thing - does anyone have one? Are they really as accurate as they say they are... are they a pain to setup or anything. I looked at their website and it looks like something everyone should have for being that cheap... what do you all think?

Save your money and brakes or something worthwhile.

It's good for making relative measurements, like before and after a mod. Many people get very consistent results.

As far as accuracy goes, that seems to vary from one person to another. With some it seems to match dragstrip times pretty well, and with others it seems to have optimistic times.

It's a good tool if you want to try different mods and see if it affects the performance of your car. I wouldn't use a G-Tech for absolute times.

on several occasions....

i tested my GTECH against the official time at the track...

and EVERY time it was consistently 2/10ths off...
(it reads 2/10ths QUICKER than the 'actual' E.T.)...

BUT...i must say that the speed (MPH) is WAAAAAY OFF!!!
(that is usually about 5-6mph higher than actual)...

This is MY gtech...others may be different....
But the key here is that its CONSISTENTLY off the same amount...so it is still an effective tuning device...

I'd say its worth it for $139.95....

And as far as easy of use....can't get much simpler!

---Adam---

PS: Don't bother using the Horsepower function....
IT IS WAAAAAAAAAY off...even w/ an accurate weight calculation.

Re: alot of ppl say that

well, all i'm sayin is, they present the machine as if its this super accurate tool to measure lateral Gforce and 1/4 mi or what not, but half the time, you're tryin' to get the damn thing aligned properly for it to take the readings and then, there's so many different variables, ie. road conditions and pot holes and traffic.. where can you really haul a quarter mile here in LA, on a SMOOTH road!? no where...
