that sucks. hopefully they didn't mess up your console in the process. BTW, what do you think stopped them? Getting to the deck is pretty easy on a max...

Factory Alarms...

So the factory alarms in the 4th gen. only go off when what? Just when the doors are opened and it was locked? Do they go off when a window shatters? I realized that they don't go off by vubration, so when would they actually go off?

Only when the door has been opened and the alarm hasn't been deactiviated. No vibration sensors.

Ok thanks, so basically a thief can just climb through the window and do his dirty work? Well, to Sprintmax, sorry to hear about the window, I'm just concerned about my LCD monitor being taken sometimes when I leave it mounted on my dash.

Consider a dark tint? That way they can't see the deck immediately and the window won't shatter when they break it. Most of the glass will stick to the film.

Actually, from my uncles experience from parking in an underground parking lot, tinted windows are actually worse because the thief can't see if there is anything inside the car and by curiousty will brake into your car. My uncles car doesn't have tinted windows and his car has been broken into twice, while the guy that parks on the same level and has tint, has been broken into more than 5 times and his car is no better than my uncles car.

Well, I guess if you have a LCD monitor that you can't hide, than tints will work. I just got tinted windows and I was thinking of placing a bigger light on the top of the dashboard to let a potential thief know that there's a security system in it. I think that the red security light that comes with the car isn't that noticable especially with the tint.

Actually the stock alarm is intended to prevent the vehicle from being stolen. It doesn't function all that well to prevent the car from being vandalized. The stocker system has ignition kill, which is basically all you need to prevent the thieves from driving away with the car. Well, that is, unless they tow it away. It also goes off when the door is unlocked without the key or remote. But like you said, the thief can climb in through a broken window (most thieves won't do that though).

The stock alarm only goes off when the front 2 doors are open (not the back doors). Your better off buying a alarm that covers windows and all the doors.

Ah that sucks Sprint. Maybe you should think of getting an alarm w/ a proximity sensor or a glass breaker sensor.
