Halogens?

Well, my Maxima was totalled earlier this year, but I continue to come back here for the great advice.

My 07 Camry only has Halogens. Stock are horrible and I put PIAA Xtreme whites in. While they are a definate improvement, they honestly are not that much brighter than the stock halogens. They are only whiter with a blue tint instead of yellow. These things cost $80 a pair. Are their any better lights available?

Not really, the best bulbs you can buy at www.powerbulbs.co.uk, such as Euro Osram Silverstars. The new Camrys have a decent halogen projector, a PnP HID kit might be more cost effective.

I just purchased 2 sets of H11's and 1 set of 9005's. I have 1 set of H11's already in. I wonder if I can return them. I have not been liking what I've been reading on these "whiter bluer" bulbs. I can attest that the light output is actually less.

They sure do, I remember the beam pattern from when my friend had one as a rental.

Yes, the projectors are very good for HID's, however they are nowhere nears as good as a retrofit. I really didn't want to risk not passing inspection which has to be done yearly.

Well, if you think about it, a ~$200 HID kit is worth the price and added light as opposed a pair of Piaas every year. Other than PnP HID, the next best thing would probably the the Philips Xtreme or Power Plus bulbs. If you ever consider a PnP kit, make sure to remove the squirrel finders above the cutoff.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the n00bish question, but I will soon be the proud owner of a '97 Max, and as a first simple mod I want to improve the stock lighting. Not sure I will do a HID kit right away, but what would be the best bulb to pop in to the standard unit (no conversion or cutting, etc)? I'd like to have a crisp, bright white light with not too much blue... maybe just a hint for some added pizazz. Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated .

And thanks to everyone for all the great info I've found just be immersing myself in the boards for the last few days... its been a big factor in me choosing to get a Max!

Please read post 3, that website sells the best performing bulbs online. Albeit, they are just pure "function" bulbs, all light, no color. Any "white" light bulb aka xenon white aka bulb glass bulb reduces output to gain the color. But if that is what you want, MTEC on eBay is the best bang for the buck, lifetime warranty too.

Honestly I'd just say do a 9007 conversion and run xtravisions. It will take 10 minutes total to grind down the extra nub and switch the wires.

But if you don't want to do that, then sylvania xtravisions give the best output. If you're looking for a bluer color, then look into Silverstar ultras.

Cool, thanks!

And I'm not ruling the conversion out totally... just want a quick upgrade while I work on other stuff like y pipe and maybe sway bar, etc .

let me break it down for ya reall simple
Osram Sylvania lights have these ranks :

Xtravisions = OEM-like yellowish output but 20% brighter (or so they claim)
coolblue = blueish output
silvestars = less blue and more white
Ultra's = pure white (what i have, they are perfect in dry weather but on snow they get kinda weird)

Awesome... I was kinda confused by the different versions they offered. I'll probably go with the Ultra's then. We get some snow here, but not like incredible amounts that will screw me up .
