Steps to safe MAPP gas use

Alright so I got my hands on some MAPP gas today and I'm going to heat off my rusted exhaust bolts tomorrow. Before I used the MAPP gas I wanted to ask people stuff that I should have so I don't turn my hand into a burger.

So please anyone chime in that knows stuff or has used MAPP gas before and would like to help out teh MAPP gas newb.

Thanks!

I'd assume don't point it at your hand and wear some thick gloves maybe?

The first thing you need to do is look at where you are going to be heating. Look for anything that has the possibility of being melted with a lot of reflected heat. You can go to Home Depot or Lowes and purchase a heat barrier. I would also make sure that there is no oils or petroleum based products in the general vicinity of where you are going to be heating at. Some nice thick leather gloves would help you from burning your hands as well. I would suggest that you invest in one of the self igniting tips. It will make your life so much easier.

If you've used a handheld propane torch, MAPP is about the same.

Alright thanks, wasn't able to get the bolts off but the MAPP gas provided no problems, I'm trying again once more tomorrow probably.
