I have a 93gxe...intake and y-pipe. I always use 93 but I don't have a modded ecu or adv timing. Should I just run 87 for the trip? I mean...i'm gonna have the cruise set between 75-80 the whole time, Buffalo-Boston. In the past I have not been able to tell the diff between the two but just wondering. In the end its only a couple bucks more to run the 93...only like a .10 more a gallon.

It depends on your load and if your going to use your AC or not. With stock timing you should be able to get away with midgrade. But 87 octane will cause your knock sensor to retard timing more than normal. IMHO if you did run 93 octane you need to advance your timing at least 2-3 degrees. The extra 4lb-ft in the lowend will surely be missed without timing tweak. I say go mid grade remember don't tolerate any knock or pinging at all.

cool beans.....

I think I'm just gonna stick with 93....besides I'm splitting the cost of gas with my passanger(115lb female )

I'm 150lbs so load aint gonna be a problem The weather is going to be goregeous....60 and sunny into Sunday..no ac needed.

Thanks,

Mike S.

ps-I think I'll advance my timing when I get back.

You can save a few dollars by filling with 91 if it's available in your area - it's what Nissan recommends (not 93).

In my 00' Max...i only use Sunoco Ultra 94....

and I'm paying out the @$$ for it too... avg $1.79/gallon.

I'm actually saving $$ since i got rid of my Civic, though!
Used to HAVE TO use a mixture of Ultra 94 & Cam 2 (100 oct)!
Now THAT hurt my pockets... $1.79/gal + $4.65/gal.
