i need a new car alarm fob thing...

how can i go about doing this? i have a 97 GXE with an aftermarket alarm installed, i dont know what kind it is cuz i bought the car with it. can i just go to any car alarm place and buy a new fob and program it, are they universal like that? or will i have to get an alarm fob think by the same brand? o yeah, you know how much it might cost? thanks

Most car alarm brains are black boxes tucked underneath the dash or the lower kick panel on the drivers side. Most car alarm brains have a mfg's make and model number on it. See if you can search for it or take it to your local car audio shop and ask them. They might charge you a little bit. Let me know what brand it is and I might be able to help you.

you just need to find the "brain" of the alarm...the little black box..it should have the name/model on it! I had to do this once and i think it was like $30-$35 for it...
