Hey guys,

One of my summer tires, my Nitto NT555 (Extreme ZR - 235/45 on 17's) needs to be replaced .. I know I need to do these in pairs. If I wanted to try another brand, though, could I do it in just a pair or should I replace all four if I'm going to do that??

Also, any other recommendations for a great performance tire??

The Michelin Pilot series is well liked, by drivers and by bank loan officers.

The Bridgestone Pole S02s are also well regarded.

I would buy 4.

I think Tirerack has a section for tire matching. I just got two myself, but I got as close as I could to the same tire. I'd say buy 4 new, or get one new to match your olds.

No need to replace the other two tires if they are not worn yet. I've heard it is it best to put the new tires in the rear and the worn (but still usable) ones in the front, since the rears tends to break traction on tight turns more than the fronts.

As for tire brand, check out Bridgestone RE730 or Dunlop SP5000.

I ordered some wheels from discount tires, and they say the new TIRE craze on the market is "NanKang" Tires. He showed me their stats and they are statisticly faster and stronger than Kumho Supra's. And their the CHEAPEST @ 83 bucks a tire. I would go down to your local tire store and check into this. I am getting my wheels/tires tommorow or saturday if you wanna email me ill tell you all about em.

So you think it would be OK to just buy ONE new NT555? Even tho the other 3 have like 18-20,000 miles on them? Will I have any performance/handling penalty if I do this?

Course I'm not really looking for a craze, or a bargain... I was sortof hoping for some kicka$s tires.

mcfly?

Hey you guys, come on. Help a boy out here.

I'm asking if I will notice any handling issues if I just replace ONE of the tires, not the other. Or must I replace them in a pair?

Sorry about that Anthony, I haven't been on for a few days.

I think you would be OK with just one new tire. I did it on my car before the max and I was fine. IIRC, I had about 10K on the tire I replaced.

Now I would get some professional opinion on that, but it's my $.02

I wouldn't change one tire to a new one if the other three have 18K-20K on them.. That should cause an uneven wear and tear on the tires and if it's one of the fronts it might offset your alignmet.

My advice is to buy two brand new ones, if it's one of your fronts replace them, if it's one of your backs move the fronts to the back and put new ones up front.

About the tires, Nitto555 are extremely good tires and I thought they were for drag racing and road racing only but i think thats the 555R's. I'd stick with the Nitto's if you're used to grippy tires.
