My shop has pulled off my SC to send it back to stillen so they can send me a new one. I figured while its off I would go ahead and upgrade the pulley. How small of a pulley is safe without upgrading the injectors..etc.?

Hey Bosco-
its me. cheston. (remember the guy that came up to you to pull the ecu code?)

what was wrong with the v2? did u ever find out why u were losing boost?

well i have the 3.48 pulley (one size smaller than stock) and its fine.

y2kevse is runnin the 3.25 midget, and that's one of the smallest you can get, but you'll have to get a smaller belt other than the one that came with it.

go 3.33.. good round number. you dont need to up the fuel injectors with a 3.33 (i think..)

oh yeah. you know the code i pulled? 0304.. KNOCK sensor!!

just watch out. did u change the plugs to cold? (i.e. 300ZX NA plugs. PFG-11.xxx 6 ??)

Cheston, you think I can reuse the stock belt for the 3.33 pulley? I'm thinking of getting that pulley instead of the 3.25

Just run a gear onto the SCs spindle, that should give you decent boost. (Don't do that to my car though!)

Cheston -

I took it to the shop when I got home and there was a vac. hose hooked up wrong, and also the BOV was wide open. So the SC was running a lot harder than it should have been. I got it out of the shop and it had to go right back in because it was making a grinding noise (like it wasnt getting any oil) at idle and at about 1500 RPM. We thought it was the propellar but it was actually the bearing that the pulley spins off of. So i'm hoping that it was a defect from Vortech.

About the pulley, its the 6-rib pulley and not the 8-rib right?

The plugs I am using are the NGK PFR5G-11 Platinum. Are these what I should be using?

thanks for the info!

Dont worry about a new belt with a 3.33 pulley. Im running the "stock" supercharger belt and it works just fine.

So, you have the supercharger with the 3.33 pulley? If the stock belt will work, that's good to know.

Hey that sounds like what my SCer sounded like just before it went to CRAP! The bolt the holds the SCer pulley in place disintegrated and bye-bye SCer. My SCer was making that weird grinding sound at idle also and it was even more pronounced when I turned on my A/C. My shop and I think I had a "Lemon" blower to begin with and that there was some sort of bearing problem inside. Ever since Vortech completely rebuilt my blower I haven't had one problem or weird sound. (Knock on wood.) Good luck dealing with Stillen and/or Vortech.

The proper plug for a boosted VQ are NGK PFR6G-11, one heat range cooler. BTW, what was your compression test showing before you put on the SC? I remember you posting a few months ago that you had compressions in the 110-120 range in your front bank, which is out of spec.

yeah most of the tests came out to 120. What exactly does this mean?

They (Kenny) tried to give me **** so I had my mechanic call him and explain the noise. He gave my mechanic a # to send the SC back with. Good luck.
