I have read a couple posts here that some maxima owners have installed the HIDs in their cars...therefore, I'm wondering if pics can be posted...so that we all can see for ourselves the perceived beam pattern "Destruction", and any other faults with the HIDs...!

if posting here is unavailable, pls mail the pics to me at tclee@purdue.edu
I am trying to find out more about HIDs in 4th gen maximas and how they look esp to the driver!

thanks for all help!

It's not percieved. It's true. The fact of the matter is that the reflectors are designed for horizontal fillement, and HID bulbs are vertical. There is no perception here. Sure you can still see cause the HIDs are very bright. But you will be blinding the hell out of on coming traffic for one....

RE:HID Pics

Hey I am the guy who put in the HID's.Let me tell I could give a damn if the beam pattern is wacky, because these bad boy's look awesome and I can see everything with them.Origanally I thought the beam pattern was normall but now it seems a bit different they kind of light everything up every where. But to tell you the truth oncoming traffic doesent seem to mind much I get a few high beams hear and there.I am going to try to lower the angle on my headlights because I had it aimed high before I put in my sylvania HID's.About posting pictures I just got them developed and I most likely will attempt to post them up tomarow. The only thing is since I do not have a garage and my house is on a incline and I live in the middle of nowhere I was not able to take a picture of the light patern against a wall.

HID kit + Maxima HB1 = Bad lighting

Stay away from these kits. Besides having a horrible light pattern and causing an immense amount of glare to oncoming drivers, you will lose your high beams. Having HID lighting, does NOT mean that you don't need highbeams. Though, some of those salespeople at those riceboy shops have fooled many poeple into believing so.

Re: RE:HID Pics

It's scary you have this kind of attitude. It really is. So I guess you don't care either when people blind you? All this cause "these bad boy's look awesome"?

Hmmmm...better lighting >>

F**K HIDs...I'm going to mount a row of four CIBIE 7" round pencil beam lamps on my roof. Each one of those bad boys pumps out about 1 million candlepower. I'd be able to see about 3 miles ahead. Yeah yeah yeah! Nevermind the fact that I'd probably cause permanant blindness to anyone who dares drive in the opposite direction that I am!

Hehehe...sorry...got carried away. I'm glad someone agrees with me (Shing).

You know... the Hella Micro DE fog lights will probably improve lighting 100%. And they only cost $130. they may be fog lights, but I swear they put out more useable light than the stock 9004 POS. I suspect a set of those in the OE fog position will improve visibility 2 fold.

Bad attitude

Like I said people dont't seem to really mind,Before I installed the HID's I still had 6 piaa superwhites and oncoming traffic has not seemed to react in a more negative manner since I installed the hids.Incase any one is wondering what my deal is with all these lights it is because were I drive there is like 15 miles of unlight backroods and lots of wild anamals. Also about me having a bad attitude I try to be curtious about on coming traffic I usually shot off my headlights when they are approaching. Also about not having high beams I have no need for high beams with my light setup.

Hey Emax

takes some pics as if you wear a car on the opsite side. Just to see how bright it looks to on coming cars.
I'm sure they won't look as bright in photos but at least we can see some pics of your Hid's.

You might find any wall to take a pic of your beam pattern.

Emax, I'm not ripping on you >>

This is not a personal attack. I'm just trying to get my point across clearly.

"Also about me having a bad attitude I try to be curtious about on coming traffic I usually shot off my headlights when they are approaching."
That's a pretty dangerous thing to do.

"Also about not having high beams I have no need for high beams with my light setup."
This because your beam pattern is too high. Since your HID pattern is now doing the job of your high beams, you are now blinding on coming driver. Get it?

I know about those. Hella makes good stuff. And at half the price of PIAA. Also, they have a new driving lamp out. THey are in the Micro FF series.

You know highbeams are not just meant for seeing better. Often I use it as a way to communicate with other drivers. Also, constantly turn your HIDs on and off will dramatically shorten the life of the bulbs. At $130-$150 a piece, yes EACH, I don't hink that's a good idea.

Interesting...so you're using an H4 bulb in a 9004 housing. I wonder what that looks like. If you're dissatisfied, you could look into getting the Cefiro Headlamps one piece, or two. Either way, they are both H4 housings.

I love my HIDs and have them aimed down as far as they can go so i don't get flashed. I do ocassionally but who doesn't? As for needing high beams? I don't, i mean i see more now then i ever did with my high beams, and i got strobes to draw your attention if need be. :-)

yep and the guy that did it for me put something on the housing before putting in the bulb so I can swap from H4 to 9004 without any mods...plug and play....never really interested me to take the bulb out and see what he put there but from what i know it's a part from a 5th gen headlight housing

actually, i never thought i would need high beams with since my HID's are bright as hel| but i drove to niagara falls 2 weeks ago goin' through PA at 3:30 in the morning i concluded that high beams would have helped me a lot.

My bulbs look like this to reduce glare and focus the light.

Deezo, when your HID bulbs burn out, how much are replacements? The HI/LO solenoid, is it built in to the bulb assembly (i.e., do you replace the bulb with solenoid)? Does the solenoid shift the shield or the bulb position when you activate HI? Just curous on how reliable the mechanism might be.

i doubt you'll have anything like that on yours. it's just glare city when you move a HID bulb from a HID system to a non HID headlight housing.

From $170 to $220

I believe the bulb can be replaced.

The shield moves with the bulb. This kit is quality.
