emax95: Thanks for testing these out. But I have a suggestion: If you check for a leak and see that there isn't one..why not let a 5th-gener try out the headers..and if it works for them..with noticable gains..they can buy it off you..?
Just a thought.

Most headers for Civics are equipped with the so called "Y-pipe". They gain quite a bit of horse power. Maybe if you get the Ypipe, the gain will be significant.
I think the gain in your high end is pretty good! I mean, 10hp! It's not bad at all. Combine it with SC, Y pipe and other goodies, the header will show its potential.

I just found 2 exaust leaks! I went underneath my car with the engine on and did not see anything so I asked my dad to rev the engine up a few times and sure enough there is air leaking out in 2 places! Water bubbles were even comming out of both of them. My 1st leak is right in front of my flex section on the Y-Pipe and the 2nd leak is were the B-Pipe connects too the muffler. I wonder home much HP and TQ I could be loosing from this? Tomarrow I am going to go to my mechanic and have him check the manifolds too since I can't really reach up there with out a lift. What do you guys think?

hmm. Well a guy at work had an exhuast leak on his pickup truck. He said the truck was very sluggish and slower off the line than normal. He had it fixed and back to normal power.
May be a cause for a few hp loss I would assume and more tq than hp

Get it fixed and re dyno. This may be promising.

As for tuning, I definitely think it is a big difference. The same Z28 on same day had a new spark plug distributor, wires and plugs plus riched up the fuel and dynoed, 307hp. I personally feel that the Max V6 is running a little lean so riching up the fuel should help out too.

Exhaust leaks can attribute to power losses, but the leaks have to be pretty big to really suck out a lot of hp/tq. If the leaks you have are only the two around the Y-pipe, then you might gain a hp or two. If you've got leaks around the ports where the header meets the head then you are pretty much screwed and you can throw those headers away because it would mean that the mounting face is warped. The bolts holding the headers on should only be at 13-15 ft/lbs. Let the exhaust cool down and feel around the front header. You should be able to reach that all around. Be careful though, they will heat up fast. You might have to do one test from above and then one from below. A bad leak at the head can lead to pretty substainal losses in power, however if the leak was that bad then you'd hear your car from 3 blocks away. My buddy cracked a manifold stub on this 5.0 and it was the loudest street car I ever heard. I literally **** my pants one morning when he started it up 50 feet from my window.
Goodluck!!

The biggest difference in HP was at 5650 RPM, I gained 9.1 HP there and 8.5 TQ.
This is not what I hoped for by any stretch of the amagination. The car does hold it's power a bit further now to a about 5800 RPM. I lost about 1 HP and 1 TQ up to 4000 RPM, at that point I slowly gained HP starting at 1 HP and continuing up to almost 10 HP by 5800 RPM.
Now what I am wondering is, is this worse then just a Y-Pipe? Does anyone have a dyno of a Y-Pipe before and after, what are the real gains?
This experience is a big turn off to spending large amounts of money on a car and not gaining hardly anything.. It looks like I am going to have to join the SMC club .
Well share your thoughts. BTW I will get the sheets scand on Sunday.

again with the thank you for pioneering this product:
as far as how well it should have and did perform, you will never get performance like a civic or an integra gets from headers because its an entirely different engine and setup..
the headers really do need forced induction like Don said.. it's what will really push the air through there.. and another thing is that you have the restrictive stock cat and res on there robbing some power.. and those engine leaks do not help ONE bit..
Another thing to consider is that some products dont work well together.. this is in small cases but you never know this random company's headers may not breath well with your catback or with you high flow intake..
so many different variables, good luck
