Hi I just installed a PR CAI on my 96max. It is making this wierd high pitched wistling sound every now and then. usually right after I floor it and then it goes away after the engine hits 3.5k. Also makes it sometimes after I let up, or driving gently under 2.5k. What is it? Is it normal. ECU is throwing no codes. Does a vacume leak give codes and trip the check engine light? Any info would help thanks.

I don't have the PR version but I have the Stillen intake and it does sometimes "whistle" and 3/4 to full throttle. The sound is basically the intake sucking in alot of air and it is completely normal. Just check that all of the gaskets, etc are tight. If it is you should be ok

Yeah, it's normal, try putting it in 5th gear, going 40 mph and bliping the throttle, you'll hear it a lot then. It's kinda like an out of sync blow off valve.

Sometimes cruzin the street and opening up the throttle people think I have a turbo in my car with a blow off valve.

Yeah same here, I was driving out of school and the Camaro crowd thought I had a turbo on my car because of the whistle sound. But actually it is the CAI and the y-pipe, but the y-pipe shouldn't be doing that. But header wrap ought to fix my problem.

It is the velocity stack on the intake. You'll get used to it after a while and won't even hear it. They all do that.

Yea I hear mine alot right there, I think it sounds like a little turbo, took my friend who owns a 95 Eagle Talon TSI AWD, for a right to show him and he just laughed.
