I've got a 2nd remote on order, and I have detailed instructions on how to program it.

My question, should I also program the 1st remote at the same time, or should it continue to work?

I've got remote start functionality (not sure if this was factory or after-market) and I don't want to jeopardize that by playing with the 1st remote if I don't have to.

Thanks for any advice...hope you all are having a good day!

When programming the second remote, the system is cleared of all previous remotes. So you will have to reprogram both. I am still wondering how you have remote start.

There is an add on remote starter that can be used with factory remotes! I've seen it...I can find it for you if you'd like. It works by you hitting Lock-Lock or something of that nature.

It's ok, I don't really have a use for one in Cali. . . It doesn't get cold enough to need one, but it is good to know one exists. . . Thanks for the info

How much did the new remote cost you? I just noticed that my dome light button does not work but the dome light does come on when the doors are unlocked.

I picked up the remote for $20 on Ebay. I think it's used, but it's better than $120 for a new one which is what Nissan quoted me.

The only thing I'm hesitant about is the remote start - I want to be sure it works after I reprogram both remotes, cuz I live in the windy city. From what I've heard, the remote start is engaged by a double-negative pulse from the remote (hitting the lock button twice) so I'm pretty sure it will be OK.

Thanks everybody.
