Supposedly, they attract whatever contaminants swimming in the oil (metallic of course). It replaces the stock oil drain plug. Anyone ever heard of these or tried them out? Would this help the car or is it just another scheme? TIA.

yeah they are real and they attract the metal shavings that build up in your oil.....my cousin who used to race his rx7 said that he put one on his car and most cars today should come with one.

Yes. They come stock on some Maxs. Not sure which years though. Do a search you should find it. If your car doesn't have one you should be able to order it through the dealer for like $4.

The only thing I don't like about the magnetic drain plugs is that it's a pain to remove the metal particles off of the magnet.

I got the IS guys to give me the magnets out of a dead hard drive. I stuck one of them to the end of the oil filter. Now when I change the oil, I throw out the metal particles with the old filter. If you have someone else doing your oil changes, remember to tell them about the magnet; I've had 2 thrown away already.
