I Need Sticky Tires..recommend

I was thinking of either the Kuhmo Ecsta Supras or the Yoko Avid V4.. Which ones do you guys suggest? I want tires with very good wet and dry traction and very quiet. Also how much of a difference is 50 series from 45 series tires?

From Tirerack's reviews and customer comments, the Kumho seem to be good tires, and a bargain at the price Tirerack charges for it. In fact, I am switching from my Dunlop SP5000 (good tire, got only 25k due to alignment problems and uneven wear) to Kumho Ecstas this weekend.

Another tire which also ranks high is Bridgestone RE730. But customer comments on Tirerack suggest that these tires are NOISY.

I gotta agree with Brian on this one. And I have to agree with Eric on this one too. hehe.

They are NOISY, but they are super perfect tires that GRIP! Man...I can't emphasize that enough. No matter how hard you try (at least for me) on flat roads, these tires will not chirp. I hope everyone can agree with me on that.

And aren't isn't RE730 the only tire (at least at the general consumer level) with a "AA" traction rating?

Many tires have AA rating. Remember, the traction rating on the tires sidewall only denote WET traction, not dry traction. My Dunlop SP5000's had "AA" traction. I believe the Kumhos are AA as well.

RE730 has good tread life, awesome performance wet and dry, and awesome road noise, definately the best all around tire.

Get the Toyo Proxes T1-Ss. They are super grippy and quiet. The Speedvision Cup race cars use them for racing tires.

I'm all smiles with my BFG's...............

I recently got a set of BFGoodrich's G-Force TA KDW tires and I'm pleasantly surprised. They're the ultra-high performance tire just below the BFG G-Force TA KD (SCCA Trans Am uses these tires). The KDW means its Key features are Dry and Wet. The grip is absolutely awesome. There is some extra road noise but sticky tires usually come with this tradeoff. They grip excellent throughout a corner. For example while you already have the car loaded on its tires in a long left or right hand sweeper for example, they offer extraordinary turn in. I feel like I can safely wrench the steering wheel deeper into the turn after already loading up the tires. Theses are the best tires I've ever rode on. Can you say autocross come spring. I know I can. My reviews are of 235/45/17.

poor tires in the rain and everday use....don't think about it for winter use. decent when heated up (drag strip) but it's not a good tire for everday driving.

IMO Nitto makes poor tires....already know two cases where the tires failed.

Ge the Kumho's !!!

If you got lots of money, sure then get Pirellis and change'em every 15,000 miles. But who got that much money? Get the Kumho's. They are awesome. As I said before, they are the greatest thing to come out of Korea next to the Korean women.
