Warranty Issues on the 2k2 Max

I just put a deposit on my 2k2 Maxima, with three week expected delivery because of the the nav system and I was wondering how I can retain my warranty and start with performance mods. I want to throw in a Stillen Supercharger, Cold Air Intake and a custom exhaust system, for starters. Also, if I start messing around with the lights, will that void the warranty?

since you bought to automatics i am going to be gentle with you...

do YOU think that it will void your warranty?

now don't answer just yet.. this is a rhetorical question..

now that you have had time to answer the question in your mind..

i am going to give you my answer.. its not time for you to match your answer in your head with my answer and see who is right.

No a supercharger and intake and all that stuff will not void your warranty..

Search the internet for Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. That's the law that spells out what voids warranties and what doesnt. That and the actual warranty text itself are the only autorities, dont rely on what a dealer or mechanic tells you.

Dorks

IMO:

Geez what Dorks..

What would be sadder is if they used some online translator to do those responses..

Basically I believe the dealer/automaker has to prove your mods were responsible for the component failure..

IMO adding any noticeable mod will only add to the possibility of being hassled in a warranty situation.

What are you going to do if both the dealer and the automaker say "Not warrantied cause your supercharger caused the failure"?

You'll spend hours upon hours and driving back & forth many times only to hear them tell you the same answer ten times. Then you can go to court. Oh what joy...

IMO if you want to mod a car don't spend $26000 on a car and add another $5000 in mods unless you can afford paying for fixing stuff out of warranty. Plan for the worst.

Buying an old Ferrari for $40,000 with no warranty while only making $60,000 per year salary is silly..

If you can afford the repairs and don't mind living with the possibility of spending more on repairs then go for it..

John,

Ask yourself this question: could the posts in this search prevented the entire thread?

I've got odds on "yes".
