Engine prob diagnosed..Broken Cam
oh my god! i took off the rear valve cover to see whats going on. I see this crack on the cam..so i was like oh whats this? then i see its snapped in half!!! man! ive never seen this before...what a POS, my bulletproof motor has a broken cam...

man it ran for like 10 min and then snapped....
anyways, i dunno if the valvetrain is ok or not. I gotta check that out. But first i gotta get me another cam!!

Damn Matthel, sorry to hear that. If the shop that put together your motor also supplied the cams, you better get a new one for free. Then again, you should get a new one for free from wherever you got it...bad grind...

im gonna tlak to the shop tomorrow and see wassup. I dont relly want to tow the car there nor do i want to pull the motor out again. And replacing the cam is ALOT of work....

what if we do? you down to help me out? free food man!! hahahahahh
i think we can get the motor out alot faster this time cause we dont have to do a trans swap and the exhaust manifolds, fuel rails, etc can stay on the motor...

so does anyone know if i have to remove the whole timing chain to pull the cam out or can i remove the small chain that drives both cams...this is for the rear exhaust cam...thanks

Hey Mathew. I think it might be less trouble just to change the cams w/ the engine in the car. But it the work might be alot easier if you take the hood off though. To get the car running, maybe just use the stock cams again. But check to make sure you didn't damage any of the valvetrain. If the cams broke when the car was actually running, I would be pretty though w/ the inspection.

hhaha...my motorcycle class teacher kept callin me Mattel today.....stupid lady
thanks for the offers guys. I could and do appreciate any help anyone can offer. THe more the better. Im not sure if i want to pull the motor out or not cause im afriad if i have probs again they might try to blame me.

What are you guys talking about? If VTCs can be done w/ the engine in, so could cam replacements.
