Clearing out my tails..have problems putting it back in

I just cleared out ONE tail with the help of ereet, actually he did everything..I just cut out the transparent section and put it in.

Anyway I'm having trouble putting the tail back together. The glass part and the plastic housing doesn't seem to be flush together..there's a little gap..not a big one..but still there.

Also I tried putting the whole assembly back in the car and it doesn't go flush inside..it sticks out a bit. When I try pusshing it in, I hear some creaking noises.

I had the exact same problem with one guys tails I cleared. Take them apart again. Watch the edges, I found that there is a lip that must seat in the gap properly. Some of the tails need some fussing with to make them all line up correctly.

Basically, don't give up on it, you will get it to go back in. Just look very carefully at where your problem point is. Think of it as if you were putting a cover on a rubber maid bowl and the cover needs to be tweaked in order for it to snap shut. Same thing applies to the fitment of the lenses.

I don't think there's any other way I can explain this to you. Just take your time.

Good Luck!

And your right, it doesn't line up on the car correctly if it's not assembled properly.

Another point, are you using the heat gun method or an oven? Use the oven, set it at 225 and back the assy. for 15 min. That heats the thing up nice and even and makes it more flexable.

I'm using an oven.

Anyway I heated it up again, and tried putting it back together. Now it fits perfectly.

However when I put it back in the car, there's a little gap..around 2mm or so of which the taillight sticks out compared to the other side(which hasn't been removed).
You can't really notice it unless u compare both sides..but it still ****es me off.

Second question, u know those tabs which hold the carpet that covers the inside of the taillight assembly? How do I put those tabs back in??

Note: check all the screws are in place before putting the in tailight. I put mine in, hooked up all the connections and tested it. Thought I was done for hte day, guess not! I forgot the screw in teh screws that join teh glass to hte plastic part.

/sorry about the typos, hands are tired !

there are 2 types of tabs: one kind you just push in and the other kind had a lock where you push in the tab, then push in the other half and turn it and it should stay in.

If you still have a gap after installing the tail assembly in the car, I don't think it's assembled properly. Take another close look at it. Do the screws that hold it together snug up nicely? That assembly should fit like a glove back into the car.
