No one is disputing that tere are laws about that. But, I doubt that they design cars as low as the concept show cars and then raise them to meet the US requirements. They are very likely designed with the laws in mind from the start.

European stock BMW sits lower than the one exported to the US. Trust me, I am European and I've seen those cars. The curb in Europe is much lower than here thus no need in jacked up bumpers.
P.S: Please don't spread your American laws to the rest of the world. Many cars are made in Europe to meet their standards, that's why it's called a european car, not american...big focking difference.

you have to understand something, America has certain laws that car manufacturers have to follow, one of 'em is a height of the car, when Maxima, bmw... cars were designed, they were really designed to sit about 1-1.5 inches lower than they are now, so basically the setup you have now is the WRONG geometry, if you lower the car by 1-1.5 inches, you will actually be sitting on the original geometry of the suspension, so lowering your car actually does help

So do you think they redesign the suspention, or just throw on some Rancho 2" lift springs? The point is they design the suspension for the market. you can have a car with 4" of wheel gap handle better than one with none. It's all in how the suspension is designed

Well Vinipux was talking about the cars having the wrong geometry, which has more to do with handling than how the car looks.

yes, but don't forget that these two go very well together, if a car is "designed" to ride at a certain height and then the height is raised by 1.5"-2" don't you think the geometry will change? a good example is when people "slam" their cars, they are so low that it's not good for the car to be driven that low, the geometry of a slamed car is messed up, so same here, granted it's still a good setup, it still rides fine, but if you race and want to be competitive, it is adviced that you lower the car to the designed geometry
