Woo hoo! I just got a awesome deal!!

I just went down the street to Knights garage{Nissan of course} and got a awesome deal! Hold your breath...ready, $14,900 trade in for my I30T!! Then they offered me a 2002 Stirling mist{my favorite!} 6spd with a sunroof, mats, deflector and guards for $25,200! Which is $800 over invoice. All of this with out me having to haggle in the slightest, not one from me! This is awesome, after going to Quirk nissan yesterday I lost all faith in dealerships, but after today I feel totaly different! BTW my 2002 max is due from the shipment{straight from nissan} any day now, it could be there tomarrow . I have a hold on the car so no one will be able to drive it, I will be the first .

If anyone is looking for a new max in the R.I. area go to Knights garage on RT 3, Jon Knight is the man!

Ethan, are you happy with your previous cars? I'm just wondering, because you're going through Nissan's like they're going out of style. I think it's great if you can afford them, but if you're changing Nissans so often, were there problems with previous ones, or do you have the "I want more" syndrome?

I have had my 95 max for a while so you can just rule that one out, it's definatly time to get rid of it. The I30 is a long story and it's hard to explain my feelings, basicaly it ****ed me off because I had no clue what was wrong with it after I SC it and a million other things. I was driving around $30,000+ car that was stallinjg on me left and right and a bunch of other things. So then I went A-Wall and took all the mods of it and then I could not stand looking at it anyomre becuase of how great it once was{to me anyways}. So now I just want a fresh new start plus I make a bit more Cha ching now then I did when I bought the I30 so a new max is affordable to me . I really plan on keeping this new max for a long time, probably until it hits 100K miles, I guess we will have to wait and see .

Honestly, no nissan is worth 30k (except for a Z maybe). Maybe that was the problem

It's hard to say what's going on because of your trade. Edmunds shows the 2002 Maxima to have a true market value about $650 over invoice, but you got $800 so that's $150 too much. On the other hand, they wrote your trade as $600 more than what it's worth, which is typical. So it sounds like you got your car $200 over invoice (taking your trade out of the equation), which allows the dealer to make about $1000. Probably still $600 more than their go buy it somewhere else routine, but kinda a bad sign for Maxima resale once again. Imagine what's gonna happen to 4th & 5th gen prices next year.

To make a long-story short, according to your data the going rate for paying cash/financing is $200 over invoice. Edmunds needs to update their site. That price can only go down as we near January.

Congrats man. Sorry the I30 gave you so much trouble, oh well. Why don't you keep the 95 for racing and keep the 2002 for everday driving?

Ethan-

That's a sweet deal for sure. I don't blame you at all.

Lately I had been getting the itch to get something new. I am constantly changing my mind daily on what I wanted. It was a WRX, Altima, Cobra, LS1 F-Body, Impala SS, etc. Then I looked back at my Maxima and realized it has a very nice ride, it's quick, it handles, it stops good, and it's the right size plus it has never given me any problems therefore it's hard to get rid of something that fits. I've decided to keep the Max and get a "project" car. Like you, I like lots of speed so I'm either gonna get a good condition 90-93 5.0 Mustang or (if I can swing the money) a 87 Buick Grand National. I'll have three cars that all serve different purposes. I'll have my stylish Max for general duty, my wife's awesome 98 Subaru Legacy GT wagon for hauling and winter work, and Sunday/drag car.

Dave, i'm getting off subject here but.... What's the deal with those Buick Grand Nationals????? My friends good friend just got one about 5 months ago... When I talked to him he was excited as hell, He has the car at a garage on jackstands, he's doing lots of reading and stuff now... It's an 86 and he got it for 7,000$. I don't know anything about those older muscle cars, but does 7 grand sound fair for that car??????? It's an automatic too...
What kind of potential does it have? I heard talks about it before on the org.... haerd they are rare. What is so good about these???

Ethan, congrats man... maybe you'll finally settle down with 1 car and stop all this unnecessary changes.. Just get rid of that i30.

The grand nash, rules! The regal T-Type as well. Romp on it around 35/40mph and it will break loose!

It was actually just my MAFS, I must have damaged it while installing my SC or intake, or both. The car runs and looks like new now.

The 87 Buick Grand National is a turbocharged intercooled 3.8 V6 that was rated at 240hp. The GN actually made more than 265hp, but GM underrated it so that they wouldn't loose sales on the slower 245hp Corvette. The GN is a mean beast that ran low 14s stock. With a chip, race gas, some intake/exhaust work, and drag tires, you should be looking at lower 13s. With about $2000 worth of well choosen mods, these cars are DEEP into the 12s. They are built well, pretty reliable, and simple to work on. There are many excellent condition GNs available from ~$10000-16000. Many of these cars have 30000 to 60000 miles. I'm really gonna try and get a GN if I can convince the wife.

Dave
Are we talking about the GN or the GNX? Becuase you are talking about the regular factory GN. To quote the Owners manual "The GNX is a special Grand National with certain modifications to accentuate it's already outstanding performance." It ran 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and squirts through the quarter-mile in 13.5 seconds at 102 mph There were only 572 of the GNX ever made.
It also had a factory roll cage
