Wheel noise that STOPS with acceleration...
Hello, all, long time no see (few years, actually)!
I searched (not just on maxima.org) but only found wheel noise that worsened with acceleration.
The noise:
-sounds like a grinding/friction
-stops with acceleration
-appears to be in same frequency as rotation of the wheel
-present with coasting and braking
-doesn't occur with physically pushing down or leaning on that side of the car
-is not felt in the brake or the wheel
Any suggestions???
Thanks in advance!

You could have a warped rotor/uneven brake pad wear. Take off the wheel that makes said noise and check the rotor to make sure it's smoothish and flat, also check brake pads to make sure they're bedded down correctly. This happened on my cousins third gen and we had to replace the whole rotor because for some reason the pad was digging into the rotor really hard. Concaving the entire rotor over time.

Having almost the exact same problem. I let my girl drive my car and I stood outside to see if I could hear it outside of the car. I barely hear the sound from the outside. From inside the car I hear this .......grind.......grind.......grind. Exact intervals. Coming from my driver's side front wheel area.

Two things can be done here.
1. put the car on the jack stands then try to spin the wheels check If It spins freely and It should. The car has to be in N.
2. If The wheel hubs are gone bad and wheels should not spin and It should feel hard. I am assuming your brakes are ok and your rotors are too.

I would say check the hub and bearing. Usually can make a lot of noise when they are going. Jack up the car and try to shake the wheel, if it has a little rattle or play, bearings need changing. Just my 2 cents!!!

I'd put my money on hub bearings. When coasting try shifting the weight side to side buy slightly swerving left to right and see if you can duplicate the noise. Another way to check bearings, adding to what MR.BEANZ just mentioned, is to rotate the wheels and grab on to the spring while its spinning. You need to have the front wheels off the ground and the car in neutral to do this test. While spinning the wheel and grabbing the spring you shouldn't feel anything in the spring at all. If you feel a 'gritty-like' feedback in the spring then the bearings are bad.

Bearings are like girlfriends.......they let you know when its time to replace them but never the same way as the last. I had a noise that sounded like something was hitting the floorboard of the car under the drivers seat and low and behold it was the wheel bearing.
