Totalled?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum but felt like posting some nice new pics of my car after hitting a E250 today... I wish I had more shots but I am curious if you guys think this car is a goner? I've already gutted it, electronics, everything. Everyone was OK, no damage done to the truck at all, and this is whats left of the max. Somehow I was able to not get a ticket for the accident but it seems like its still a goner.

I bent the top frame support back entirely. both fenders need replacement.
Right side headlight is gone. Fog lights are cracked. Coolant tank severed. Grille destroyed. Front bumper destroyed. Hood crinkled. Car will not go into Drive , Radiator may be damaged, could not tell at time of accident, just knew I was leaking coolant. Plastic undercarriage was run over by several cars.

Thanks guys for your thoughts & support

that'll buff right out....(sorry, couldn't resist).

based on the damage and the 5th gen's low assessed value, it's probably totaled. Soonerfan had similar damage on his 01 a couple years ago and it was totaled....

did any airbags deploy? If so, it's definitely a goner...

nothing a little elbow grease cant fix right?
+1 If bags were popped then it's very very likely that it's totalled...

WOW..... you hit a E-250 truck and that's all it has done to your car, consider hits like this are minor and It could have been alot worse and I seen cars in our class hitting something this big and strong and the whole front end would of cave in and the hood crumple up even more. The good part is that no one got hurt and the car did pretty good holding up the hit. I believe that this should be fixed since the main frame might have not gotten damaged. I am not sure what the insurance will say even though the Air Bags did not deployed. We can hope that the damages are not sever and the car can be fixed.

If the frame is bent and both fenders (and hood and lights) are crunched, then it's a $7500+ dent.

on a $10-12k car, that's definitely totalled.

Sorry dood.. at least you're OK though. that's the important part.

funny part, i have the back seats for the car in my home, was hauling a dirtbike inside it last week and didnt get a chance to put them back in... for insurance purposes do you think the seats will need to be returned to the car?

i would say yes. if you dont put it back they will give you less money when they decide it's totalled and cut you a check. I'm surprised the bags didn't deploy... Glad you're okay.

Somewhere around $3500 bucks put it all back together again.
How many miles on the car?
Does the car have Zenon headlights? That could push it over.

At least show them you have the back seats available and what condition they're in. insurance will do anything they can to knock the value of your car down.. if the car hasn't gone to them yet, I'd say just put them in and don't worry about it. If they have seen it, then make it very clear you have the seats and will put them back in. something like that will knock $1000 off the valuation fo the car right there. been there, done that. spent 6 months fighting over the price of my car when it was totalled.

hi guys, talked to claim adjuster today and they said my car is worth $9,000 to them (very high I thought)... they are not totalling it. The damage is $6,750 but Had it towed to an awesome shop and hopefully they'll get down to business on it soon. Thanks for your advice!

Well.....that Is good news and I was sure that It was not going to get totalled out because the Air bags were not deployed and the main frame was probaly not damaged. The damage was just the front bumper and the grille and the side fenders and the hood. I am sure the price sounds a bit high but your max was not totalled Good luck Thank god.

here's some shots from the car today as it lies at the body shop - claim adjuster was very fair they told me, I'm just not so happy about them ordering a grille off another wreck to replace mine with.

They said downtime should be about a month, give or take. Any opinions on that?!

hope everything comes along well for you.

So what car are you going to be driving while the max is in the shop?
Month is a pretty long time if you ask me.

WOW!

I can't believe the airbags didn't deploy. that has to be some tyope of problem with the sensors in the front end.

You've got to hit something pretty hard to deploy the SRS system.
He's got mostly cosmetic and some sheet metal damage on the inner fender.

Easy fix, hope the shop does a nice job!

First, off If the insurance company Is going to do the work then they might as well get the new grille and a new bumper because the used parts are not garrented and the old parts are worn out and In a rebuilt process,It should get new parts. I would argue with the insurance company to get this aproved. Since the car Is getting worked on and you might as well get everything done and over with once.
