Maxima is too fast for teen driver? it's not about their age and experience,,,
there are lots of stupid drivers who are around 40-50. it depends on ur driving style and habits. whoever drives maxima will need to show polite driving attitude and safe
driving. this is how we pride Nissan Maxima.
Well my dear, I know more women and families that Drive Nissan's. And I dont know of many men who drive Toyota's....I mean Prius', camry's...total Chick cars. Buttt if youre talking about Supras and GTR's, then yes...you are right.

If someone would pull out the white-papers, I'm sure you'll find that Maxima's target demographic doesn't include Teens.

But then again, Scions were supposed to target 1st-time drivers, yet a good percent of them are driven by seniors.

Whats funny is that the Acura RSX is there...lol... Hi guys I'm new here, this is my first post :P, My maxima was a hand me down when I got it at 18, 1997 Maxima GLE with 198k miles!!! I was just happy I got a car haha, but after doing more research I found that the Maxima was pretty nice. 3L V6 and around 190ish HP haha. I just joined this site to find out more about DIY so I can fix up and maintain my maxima... It's been my hardcore DD for the past 3 years and has like 225k miles.

I dunno I think its a pretty good first car for teens (17+), fast but not too fast and its a sedan. lol. I would keep my car but my cousin needs a car now so shes getting it next but I want to be the one taking care of the cars mechanical needs.

What's funny about the rsx? it's as 'quick' as a maxima, handles the same, but 1/2 the price.

I meant its funny because RSX made it as a TEENS first car and Maxima didn't haha, but I guess I can see the reasons why. I think a used Maxima for a first time/teen driver is pretty nice/suiting but thats just me.

ive had my maxima for almost a year now. i had a pickup that i lost the back end of and totalled it with a head on collision. now with my 97 5 spd, i do catch myslelf driving "slightly"faster than i should be. and i put 18 on it thats make the car handle so much better. i live right at the foot of the dragon tail ( hw 129-311 curves in 11 miles) which has become my bestfreind. the cars are quick and from what ive heard are pretty safe. i havent tested the safety of my maxima.. hopefully never will. i just turned 18 by the way

My Max is the first car i've ever driven. On my first time driving ever, I was 14 and stole the keys from my parents. Today in my 20's, the Max is mine. The max is alot of power for a young kid in my experience. But it sure was fun.

My Max has been the same one I got when I was 16. Yes, it was very fun learning how to drive for the first time in it. Mashed the pedal and well...you know the rest. I fell in love that day lol!

Yeah, my brother had a Max when he was about 18 and totalled it by driving right into a brick mailbox one night. Too much power for irresponsible kids.

Well, its been decided. My now 14 yo son is getting my 03 Max 6 speed in about 2 yrs. Right now it has almost 72k miles on it and I hope to have a little over 110k by then.

My 18 yo didn't want the 97 SE 5 speed so I sold it regretably and got the 03. He thought he was getting the 99 S80 Volvo, (NOT) he had to settle for an 05 Kia Optima.

My next baby is going to be (I hope) either an 07 or 08 M45 Sport, that I'll buy in 2010 for no more than $23k. I'll post pictures here first when that day comes.

No disrespect or anything, but your 18 yo is an idiot. Look what he had to settle for, an '05 Kia Optima. Hopefully, your 14 yo learns from his older brother's mistake, and takes the '03. Only 110K when he gets it and 6 speed too? What a lucky kid.

Wow, who's idea was it to get the Optima? The car itself is great. The driving experience isn't a high point though. I've thought about the Malibu as a 2nd car, but the Optima's probably got more premium standard features.

Lol you guys are funny...Maximas...Fast? Too much power?

Seriously, 4th and 5th gens seem to be the most popular and they have 190HP and 222HP (well 2003 has 255) respectively. That is hardly power compared to other cars out there.
