Stripped screws

Whats the best way to get a stripped screw out? Im trying to replace a bulb in my spoiler taillight on my 91, but the screw is stripped to hell lol.

Use a thicker screwdriver or some sort of pinch pliers to put around the screw and turn counterclockwise.

tried thicker screwdriver. That only made it worse. And theres no way i can put pliers around the screw.
