Loved the max and love the new subaru, but I'm realistic. Neither of them are world-beaters in any performance category. They're good for what i want to do with them, and that's all that matters to me. If someone wants to think they're faster or better-handling, let em. Why does it matter to me? I don't need to prove anything to people I don't know......

If it makes you feel good to think your car is faster than mine, hey...have at it. Feel good about yourself. Ignorance is bliss.
Yes, that is what I wanted to argue. That my stock, deceased 4th gen performs better than your WRX and not that you're just going around a maxima forum preaching the ultimate superiority of your apparent newfound maxima killer. You can come out and say that you know that neither are really true spr0rts cars, but that context doesn't necessarily rid you of the high horse you are speaking down from.

I always found this funny. People mistake my car for an Altima too, it's not as if the Maxima is such a superior car. Don't get all butthurt from automotive ignorance, just hit it and quit it. If you get upset over people calling your family sedan by the name of an economy car, you need to shift your focus.

I've had some guy refer to my LTB2/FSTB/SFC/RSB/retrofitted/ground control/shortened koni/g35c 18'd 4th gen as "the altima with the strut bar," I just smiled and said "yeah that's the one." If they don't care about it, they don't care about it. Don't make a fuss because people don't care about family sedans and economy cars, it will only make you seem like a whiny *****.

One ride shuts them up. The 190 HP number is deceiving considering the torque curve is flat as a pancake, the car weighs 3000 pounds and it has a 5 speed stick

please...my high horse? Speaking down from my $25k car as opposed to $35-40k new Maximas which are much "nicer" cars in most aspects. I sure as hell didn't buy it as a "maxima killer." Seeing as no other locals autocross maximas, I'm not sure where I'd be "killing" them.

And you can look back to my posts from years ago...I do not and have not ever thought that the maxima is a sports car. And that was when I was actually DOING motorsports with it. I had a great time with my maxima and you of all people know that I did damn near everything you can do in a maxima in terms of motorsports and driving conditions. So please don't try to act like somehow my arguments are different now. The Maxima is a luxury sedan, or a sports sedan, or a "performance sedan." Not a sportscar. The subaru could be described as a sports sedan or a "performance sedan" (not a luxury sedan). Not a sportscar either. And outside of Matt and Brian, nobody on this forum pushed harder for the Maxima to be seen as a motorsports car that I did, sorry. So don't tell me about "high horses" and stuff...my Maxima ran against 500hp Z06s and Porsches.

I sold the Maxima because it was time to sell it and Nissan did not provide a newer option that fit what I was looking for in my next car. I didn't sell it because I dislike maximas. If the 7th gen was a 6MT, you'd probably see me autocrossing in one next season...I still much prefer a big V6 to a turbo-4 any day of the week.
--

back on topic though, my original post was simply lampooning the very point of this thread (which was stupid when I owned a maxima, and is stupid now).

Ya man you are dead on, I end up explaining that it's a class higher and somehow I sound like the idiot, not to mention a douche bag, near "whiny ***** territory" lol, so I just stop talkin about it, girls just like the 18" black rims neway so I'm learning not to be offended lol

I dont generally get people talking trash about my 4th gens....except for my next door neighbor who has a 67 mustang. He says it'll chew up any import out there.

Most of the time with my 95SE, I always get one of the following:

1. "I Love your rims"
2. "Thats a really nice car...what is it?"
3. "Maximas are drug dealer cars.....You must get pulled over a lot"

I am sure our Maximas will beat any Honda, also! If you took some time to upgrade your Maxima and put on some rims and a body kit, it'll look nicer than 70% of the new cars today. My personal opinion, haha
