this site is pretty accurate

Horsepower Results - 1/4 Mile Method
Your Nissan weighs about 2830 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 14.7 seconds. That means that you've got about 176.08 HP at the wheels, and about 228.91 HP at the flywheel.

Assuming my car weighs the same as yours sprint, since I run a 14.4 according to that calculator I would be making quite a bit more hp than 191 at the wheels and 250 at the flywheel... (I tried that HP calculator and it just sat there and didn't do anything). I'd say thats a not right since I have only a Y-pipe. I guarantee everyone here my car doesn't even come close to 190 at the wheels, I'd estimate 170 and 200 flywheel. And since when does 190 WHP = 250 crank HP? That calculator is messed up.

I just tried sprints link for a HP calculator and got this:

[Quote]: Horsepower Results - 1/4 Mile Method
Your Nissan maxima weighs about 3430 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 14.74 seconds. That means that you've got about 211.68 HP at the wheels, and about 275.19 HP at the flywheel.[Quote]

I punched in the #'s from the fella who ran a 14.74 in his 2002 GLE. Look's like nisan is underating from those figures!

Where on that page does it give the output... I click calculate HP and nothing happens. I don't see anything.

Speak of the devil... that thing NEVER popped up before but I tried it again and it worked.

So before my y-pipe, according to this calculator:
Your nissan weighs about 3050 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 14.87 seconds. That means that you've got about 183.34 HP at the wheels, and about 238.34 HP at the flywheel.
And after the y pipe:
Your nissan weighs about 3050 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 14.46 seconds. That means that you've got about 199.38 HP at the wheels, and about 259.19 HP at the flywheel.
Sweet... I gained 21 hp from my y-pipe and my drivetrain loss is like 25%

HP results based on quarter mile e.t.'s are worthless, they're totally inaccurate. Look at it this way; say my car does the quarter in 15.0 @ 94mph, totally stock. The et hp estimator says I have 200 hp. Then, I put some drag slicks on my car, same diameter as the stock tires. My time improves to 14.7 but my trap speed will stay about the same. The et hp estimator will tell me I make more power, but I don't.

True, but using a few basic rules of physics, you can guess a round about figure.
