Rain X and that Castrol Stuff

Which is better between the RainX and Castrol stuff (can't remember what it is call?)? Would it be good to use either one before the winter on all the windows?

I use RainX. Works great, I find that it ain't much use besides the windshield. In fact, except for mist, I hardly use my wipers.

Pretty much never at night.

I had a friend in high school with an old Supra, back when they were the "Celica, Supra Edition".

His wiper motor broke, and it was like $100 to replace it. So he just put the Rain-X on the windshield every week or so and didn't worry about it. That's what hooked me on it.

Will it help for winter conditions? eg. ice, sleet, snow, slush etc...

RainX is great in winter - scraping the windows becomes nearly a one-touch event - the ice just doesn't stick!

yeah rainX is pretty good. the water just beads away. the only bad thing is the shoepolish doesn't stick very well when i race at the track.

I hear RainX is good but i also heard that if you stop using it the film formed on your windshield will become more prominent.

Then again, as long as you keep re-applying it you won't have that problem.

What is the best way to remove it once you do not want to use it anymore? Regular high pressure wash using glass cleaner afterwards?

Questions about RainX...

The water runs off like off wax or what? Everyone is talking about it but I haven't tried it yet.. You actually won't have to use your wipers? My wipers suck, after they swipe the water off, it doesn't actually wipe off, just smudges around and becomes blurry i'll try that rainX stuff and I need new wiper blades, (any ideas?) thank u

Yeah, it beads up like water running of wax. If you live in an area with lots of rain (ie Seattle), RainX is the way to go. When it rains, sometimes I completely forget that I don't even have the wipers going when driving while I see other people have their wipers going ballistic. Make sure you clean your wipers with alcohol and then clean it up with WD40. Works wonders. Plus your wipers last longer too.

rainX works, but...

but i found that it only works when im going 40 mph or faster. also, if you ever have to use your wipers for some reason (cleaning the windshield for example) they smear the stuff and make it difficult to see. rainX work but i dont see a problem with simply using your wipers.

btw...ive never used the castrol stuff.
