Definitely not dissing (ex-Honda guy here)...BUT...
there was a new Accord V6 sedan @ the track on Sunday (black) which had every conceiveable performance mod on it (except forced induction)...I'm talking Intake, Headers, Exhaust, Underdrive pulleys, etc, etc... And he couldnt do better than a 16 the whole nite. Also his MPH was garbage as well (low-mid 80's.) I've also seen some stock V6 Accords at the track on a few occasions...each of which was running mid to hi 16's. I "thought" these things were supposed to go 15's stock?? (according to Motor Trend).
So as far as this not being the norm...you sure? Also, I HIGHLY doubt that just putting an intake on your car dropped your E.T. from 16.2 to 15.5. Because stock Honda intakes are VERY EFFICIENT from the factory and usually dont yield more than 2-3 hp (while losing low end power). There must have been another factor going on there to pick up those 7/10ths.
Anyway...just my thoughts.
Again...not dissing...just tellin what I've seen.

WOOOOOHOOOOO!! Time to do some serious shopping.

I raced ANOTHER civic!!
I guess its karma (i used to be a honda racer if u didnt know).
His dial in was a 13.89 and mine was a 14.79.
He ended up running a 15.0
and I ran a 14.90 I think?So basically I beat him by about 1.5 seconds.
Got me a crappy trophy for that win.
But later got beat by something (dont remember)...
so i didnt win any cash...DANGIT!

Just a few things. The stock intakes on the Accord V6 are VERY inefficient. We have a HUGE resonator which does nothing but restrict the flow of air to our engines to make our car sound quiet. I have a picture of the resonator if you would like to see it.
Also please read my post on page 3 of this topic. I posted time slips along with the conditions each run was made in. Basically the temperature was 20 - 25 degrees cooler when I ran with with my intake vs when my car was stock. To give you and idea, I was actually running 16.3's and 16.4's after I first installed my intake and the temp was in the mid to high 90's! Talk about get disappointed!!! Temperature makes a HUGE difference in times at the track.
To answer you question about the stock speed for an Accord. Only two magazine's have ever gotten a 15 second time with a stock accord. One was a V6 LX Coupe which is the LIGHTEST Accord that is made, and their time was a 15.8, and the other time was a 15.9 on an LX Sedan most likely. According to the mags, the Accord V6 normally runs b/w 16 flat and 16.2. A lot of the people that go to the track don't know how to launch the car properly, and simply just mash the gas peddle when the light turns green. Yes, you will probably run much higher 1/4 mile times by not brake torqueing an automatic. You Maxima automatic owners can back me on that. I have 5 or 6 friends with modded 4cyl Accords that run high 15's to low 16's so I want you guys to know that a modded V6 Accord running mid 16's is not "normal" with a driver that knows how to drag race. When you saw these V6 Accords make runs, were they spinning their tires off the launch? All of my best time have been made when my tires only make a small chirp off the line. The one time I did get a lot of wheelspin off the launch I ran a 16.8 with a 2.5sec 60ft time. (I have a timeslip if you would like for me to post it)
Once again I will ask you, what is the elevation of the tracks you were seeing these Accords at? At a higher elevation than sea level (which is where I have run my car at) 1/4 mile times will be slower as the elevation increases. (If you already knew that then I apologize)
I did not mean to imply that anyone was calling me full of **** or anything like that. I just want you guys have some respect for a V6 Accord. I used to think the 5th Gen Maximas were slow after hearing countless stories of Honda drivers who "smoked, spanked, destroyed, dusted" etc your cars so that is why I came here... to learn more about your Maximas. I realized that the people who were making these claims were a result of 1 of probably 2 things:
1) They were full of ****.
2) They raced someone who didn't know how to drive their car.
Either way, I now know what the Maxima is capable of in the hands of a competent driver and I want you guys to have the same information about the Accord.
I'm hear to learn about the Maxima and provide any helpful information I can about the Accord so you guys don't ever get surprised.
I will say again, I have nothing but respect for the Maxima's and am in no way putting down your cars or trying to claim that Honda's "rule" or crap like that.
I also have this same respect for V6 Toyota Camry's, Solora's, V6 5spd MX-6's and Mitisubishi V6 Eclipses. The jury is still out on the V6 Galant though.

Hey BNut...wanna hear something odd?
Took my moms 1999 Honda Accord LX (4cyl, 5-speed) to the track (Etown...which is sealevel) a few months ago (while my turbo civic was in the shop) and I got it to run a 16.25 best E.T. with most runs being between 16.25 and 16.40 (depending on my 60' times which were usually between 2.3 and 2.4).
I was shocked...
Although i dont even know what they're "supposed" to run cuz i havent seen any tests on them.
I'm sure the magazines probably say theyre slower than that but then again...they're rarely right.
