Painting pillars?

Alright so I have a 00 maxima with black leather interior and i want to black everything out including the headliner.

For the headliner I'm just going to use Duplicolor fabric spray paint dye but I'm not really sure how to go about painting the pillars close to the windshield. What would the process be like? IE. What paint should I use, how should I sand it, etc?

What I did was I left the old paint and stuff on the old pillars there I just scratched it up with sandpaper and then I sprayed on primer and white paint and clear coat.

You need to make sure that you spray LIGHT layers because for some reason it was REALLLLLLY runny when I painted my pillar and so I had to restart and try again. And also try some where not dusty and where bugs can't fly and land on your freshly painted pillar. Thanks to some curious flies and freakishly huge dust specks I have little spots of imperfection on the painted pillar but I covered it up with those chrome things from Ebay so its all good

Yeah I got mine off of Ebay. And the seller is trustworthy if you want I can send you the link to the guy I got mine from.

But either way I think ALL chrome pillars are over priced and are not as good overally as they seem to be. So basically THEY ARE ALL CRAP but if you messed up or if the pillars are fading like mine was and you didn't want to repaint or buy those carbon fiber pillar things for like $200 then chrome is the way to go.

You just need to take extra care of the pillars because the chrome can scratch off, but it wasn't easy, I had a rock in a towel I was using to press down on the pillar to make them super flat and so I made a long gash in the pillar, and the seller replaced them for a small fee.

Yeah, I was talking about the interior. I ended up just sanding with 1200 grit sand paper and primering then spray painting with flat black paint and it turned out great.

I'm having trouble getting the middle pillars (where the seat belts are) off, as well as the rear since the seat and rear deck are in the way. Anyone got any pointers for those?

just pull them, look at my pics ill post some tomorrow on how to if you want. i painted everything in my car black, you don't need to sand the pillar, you need an adhesion promoter from Dupli color and the flat black from Dupli color. don't mix it with other brans it doesn't work to good or it takes a long time to dray .

The sliding seatbelt thing gets in the way, or will that come off with ease?

once you pull the pillar of you'll see 2 bolts, but first you want to open the seat belt and take 1 bolt of so you cold get the seat belt off. then take the 2 bolts of so you could paint the sliding plastic.
