Can I put a 5th gen muffler on my 99 max? If so would I see any HP gains? I have seem conflicting info on whether I can even do it. Also would it be noisy? I hate noisy.

 

Fit ... yes.

Gains ... nominal.

 

it will only fit with some modification, that's for sure. The pipe on the 5th gen muffler is longer than the 4th gen, something has to be cut.

noisy? nah.

 

I was talking to Dallas from Warpspeed and he said there are a lot of benefits with the new 5th gen mufflers, something about a valve for back pressure and it opens up for high end flow. I don't know a lot about it other than he got all excited when he was talking to me about it. I would imagine he took a cold shower later.

I installed it when my Courtesy B-pipe a week after installing the Stillen Y-pipe. The cat-back did make my car feel more powerful, but I don't know if the gains are attributed to the B-pipe, muffler, or conjunction of both. Next time I can an opportunity to dyno or get a G-tech, I can easily swap back my stock muffler for comparision.
