Need help on finding the right place and price for a paint job on my 2005 3.5 SE. It is currently silver and i want it black. Needs a touch up on rear fender. Maaco gave me an estimate for $1500 but i dont know if thats being over priced or if thats just write? Any help would be greatly appreciated i live in New england. P.S. the pics are in my album

That's an insane price for a complete color change (door jambs, etc) and additional body paint.
The last time I got a quote was about 8 years ago for mt 4th gen. Wanted to go black from Pebble Beige and was quoted nearly 5k for it.

dude, DONT go to Maaco. ive heard nothing but bad about them, for the cheap jobs they just spray over your current paint with no prep at all, and the other jobs ive heard they do a cheap prep job. i wanted to get my 3rd gen painted black and i asked on another forum a few years ago asking how everyone found Maaco and all 30ish posters said dont do it

maybe try to find a private auto painter, i haven't heard of one person that had a Maaco job that was satisfactory after even a few months of painting.
besides a private auto painter, maybe see if any tech training places that are training auto painters will do it for cheap, as in students do the painting while a pro supervises?
the ONLY way i would trust Maaco is if you do the prep yourself and just let them paint

If you do all the prep work yourself it'll be fine but don't just drop the car off and expect the paint job to be good or last long.
That's a sick price though but remember, you get what you pay for.

yeah and check allover and everyone says a good paint job is $4000+
for the price of the paint job it might be worth it to just sell or trade for a already black Max or live with your current colour a few grand would be far better put into performance parts than paint

I concur with the fellow posters. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I learned the lesson a hard way. GOt my car done At Maaco due to the warranty they gave but it was problems from day 1. Paint didnt match and they said that oh your car has faded over time. Fast forward 1 winter, clear coat starts peeling. I take it back and they are like no problem, what I end up getting back is paint over that paint and a nasty looking car. Took the car to a local body shop and he made the things so much better. In short DO NOT DO IT!

even just google "Maaco reviews" and you'll see it all
OP, hope this all steers you away from Maaco

Your biggest thing with any paint job is the prep. Without proper prep that crap can flake chip or just plain come off the first time you pressure wash it.
My mother did earl schieb back in the day and I remember they painted over the plastic and rubber molding...all bad bro. All bad.
Personally is go the route of a. Local community college and you can usually get the prep and all done for cheap and usually good results just pay the supply fees and a lil bit extra.
