Alright, I'd figure I'd get some more people's opinions on this....

I'm the process of doing a 6spd swap on my current 5spd maxima, right now I'm having trouble finding a 02-03 maxima 6spd started but I have come up w/ a couple of 04 Maximas and quite a few Altima starters.....

Here is lay of things right now... I have a friend who has already completed the swap and is using the starter out of a 06 Alti SE-R, which according to part numbers is the SAME as 04-06 Maxima MTs and 02-06 Alti MTs.

That is where my confusion begins... Should the starters for the altima for 02-04 NOT be compatible with the starter for the 05-06 SE-Rs??? Sure I'd buy that all 6spd starters from 02-06 are the same but what I'm getting is that ALL starters for VQ35s are the same from 02-06??

Is this right? I'd love to save $50 and buy a 02 Altima starter for the 5spd, or hell even use my current one (because the 5spd transmissions are the same, right?)

Anyways if anyone can shed some light on this, it'd be much appreciated.

Spark notes:
Are all altima VQ35 MT (5 and 6spd trannys) starters the same?
-If yes, couldn't I use my current 5spd starter (Which I was told I can't)
Is the 02-03 maxima 6spd starter the same as the 04-06 starter?
