Smoked a Skylark

I know, its not really worth mentioning, but since I haven't found much people to play around with lately, it has to do.
I was cruising along at around 60 in third gear as I see him cutting through traffic behind me. As soon as he catches up with me, I start speeding up to match his speed, then I look over (young kid) smile and just floor it. He tried to keep up, but by the time I switched to fourth, I had over 8-10 car lenghts on him. I put on the blinkers, slowed down and when he finally caught up, he was pretty cool about it. Just smiled and gave me the thumbs up. He'll know not to mess with a Maxima again.

I know, that thing was incredibly slow, but since no one ever wants to race me I have to take what I can get.
On the other hand, when I'm driving my Gf's 95 240SX, everyone wants to run, but the car doesn't compare to the Max.

Yep thats how it works. When they see you in a 4 banger suddenly everone from pickup trucks to integras to 5.0s wanna race. Back in 96 I used to own a 200sx (non se-r). It seemed that everytime I was at a stop light or just cruisin around people wanted to race me all the time!! I even got walked by a twin cam saturn(doh!). With the Maxima its a different story. Ill be at a red light next to a modded accord or a V8 truck w/ the dual flow master pipes and when the light turns green suddenly they forget where the gas peddal is.

Re: Smoked a Skylark

Great kill!

Reminds me of this time I raced a Toyota Previa. Yeah. What a race. It never saw it coming. By the time I hit 90, it was a dot in my rearview mirror.

That'll teach my mom to mess with Maximas

Other person: "Yo, so you think you're Maxima is pretty fast, huh?

You: "I don't think it is, I know it is."

Other person: "Oh word? Yo, so, like, what cars have you raced against and won?"

You: "Yo, I raced a Skylark once and totally destroyed it, man!"

Other person: "Uh.... ok ...."

Depends on what year the Skylark is. Late 60's-1971 that would be a pretty good kill for a Max.

Not a kill I would brag about. But it's always fun to race.
