My Max Tried To Drive Itself

Yesterday I'm low on gas, light is on, so I fill her up with 92 and put some much needed air into my tires. I proceed to the bank, about 5 min. away and park for another 5 min. This is where it gets weird. I got back and tried to start my car and it took 3 hard cranks. Strange I thought. Anyway, I start driving for a while then when I was coming to a stop and put her in neutral my rpm's kept going up! I was like 'NO! WTH!' I thought my engine was going to blow but, it only went to about 4k then suddenly dropped. Okay then I accelerate, non-spirited, and am about to shift to second. As soon as I press the clutch my rpm's start to go up again, but I didn't realize it at first, so when I put it in second and let go I chirped my tires. Then it kept accelerating without my help for a quick second. I'm like 'Mkay, is my max trying to tell me something?' Guess she needs to get out more. It only happened these two times and my car has been driving fine since. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. It was kinda scary. Cruise control malfunction???

You're not supposed to accelerate when the clutch is pushed in.

my 93 does the same thing in extreme temperatures.....it hasn't done it in a while. it also does it after my brother drives, basically after you beat the isht outta it, it happens. its an auto so that might make a difference,

never got it checked out, figured the dealer would tell me the computer is bad and i have to replace it ($$$$$100000000)

only happened 2-3 times

Just curious, why would a CAI affect this?

I guess I'll have to check that. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm a '99 and don't drive it too hard usually. I definately don't beat on it. Also, temperatures were a chilly 60 Cali degrees.
Kinda weird though huh? I hope it doesn't happen again.
