First Impression
After owning my Maxima for a year, I finally can post a new thread.
I wanted to say something about the change in my ride.
I previous drove a Nissan Frontier - a 4 cylinder.
I was wowed by the acceleration experience in the Maxima. Most of our highway merge ramps come up from a downhill position, where under-powered cars are a little challenged to get up to highway speeds.
In the first week of ownership, I did a smooth and brisk - not wheel burning - acceleration on one of these merge ramps. As I did, I watched the vehicle behind me get smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror as I have never experienced before. It reminded me of one of those sci-fi movies where the spaceship quickly departs from some death star which is about to blow up, and you see the scene from the spaceship's rear window view.
I'm not the sports car type. I prefer a situation where one has power but doesn't have to use it all. Knowing you can do brilliant performance and still have a lot left in reserve is where I like to be. I also like the under statement of the Maxima. I pointed to a Mustang in the parking lot one day, and told the kids: "The Maxima could take that". They were in shock, as it isn't dressed up for the part.

Maximas are racecars in disguise, but I think a 90s+ GT could give us a run for our money.
