sc belt shredded down to 5 ribs!
It's similar to Confused's problem. I noticed this in the process of removing the SC from my car. I took off the idle and tension pulley, so the belt could be loosen. The belt didn't look right. Normally, the belt has 6 ribs, but it's now down to 5 ribs. I don't know how, but one of the rib of the belt was gone. It's been shred to pieces. Hm...this has to be the reason why my SC has been acting funny lately. I don't know how long ago this has taken place. For all I know, this could have happen just right after I put in the 3.125 pulley with the new belt. It's a Dayco belt, not the Gates belt. Hm...quality problem? I do have a spare Gates belt that I ordered. I haven't finish removing the SC and its components out yet. Hopefully, Mardigrasmax will give me a hand with that.

I don't think any of the pulleys were out of alignment. The belt was still held on pretty good, very tight.

Here are some troubleshooting tips, when most people blame the belt, but the install is the source of the problem. Gates is a better product than Dayco throughout all of their rubber products. Okay, I am bias as I work for Gates, but just ask most shops what they prefer and the word Gates will come from most.

Not sure if it's because of the belt. I know of another SC Maxima owner that is using a Dayco belt and has no problem so far. I did order the Gates belt, but it didn't come in time. I was in a rush to put in a smaller pulley, so I went out and bought a Dayco belt from PepBoys. Oh well, doesn't matter now that my SC has to come off anyway. I'm going to just give the spare Gates belt to the buyer of my SC.

Dunno. I was gonna get a new V2, but if I can get EVERY part that I need from someone else, I'll settle for the V1... Name a price.

Jane: you selling your SC too? Getting rid of the car?
Confused: Matt has dibs on the 3.125 pulley.
Medic: you will love the SC if you do get it. If I could keep the SC financially, I would. I know your car is pretty fast as it is, just imagine if you put the SC in.

Yes, he is.
I've been wanting to sell it for a while now. If I can get a good enough offer I'll let it go to a good home.
