Exhaust Question

Hello, I am new here to the forum so I am hoping someone could help me. I just bought a 2007 Nissan Maxima SE 3.5L I am looking to make the exhaust a little louder but not too loud. I had the resonator cut off hoping that would give it more sound but it only gave it a little bit. I was wondering if I was just to buy some universal mufflers and have my local exhaust shop weld them up what I should go with? Any preference with what sounds best and wont be to loud?
