Ill be looking for a clutch soon to hold around 400hp. Was wondering which clutch you forced induction guys are running? ACT got a 6 puck not recommended for street use (torque rated up to 460)and a Street Clutch(torque rated to 260)
thanks for any input. Later

clutch
i am going to try jwt's one side metal clutch.425.00. they said it will hold for aggresive driving.clutchmasters has a stage 4 that is a beast for 550.00. my stock clutch lasted 10k miles , my centerforce lasted about 9k miles.(no comments) but i need something that won't slip, under the power.

Everybody is concerned with the clutch, take a minute and think about the transmission. When Nissan designed it, I'm sure they didn't leave room for 400hp at the input shaft. You should really have the transmission and drive shafts beefed up so you can put the kind of power down to the ground.

You guys still have this backwards...you should be building up a tranny that is capable of handling 400 hp. If you use a clutch that handles 400+ HP on a tranny that holds 260 HP, which is going to break first? I guarantee you it won't be the clutch...
The clutch should be the weak link in the system...not the tranny itself! Which is easier and less expensive to replace/repair?
EDIT-- Damn it! I didn't realize this was a million year old thread brought back to life with DNA transfusions...

Thanks Tom for an educated answer to the undereducated org. clutch dilemma. These illuminas by the way are riding 10x better than the agx on the softest setting. Well back to the clutch thing, everyone complains about the centerforce and I hate to prove everyone wrong but the dual friction is good for 400whp and 350wtq. As Stephenmax said earlier, Matt did have this clutch at these figures and only after 3-4 back to back 1320's did he have any slipping. I have had no bad experience with both my centerforces with N20 and a supercharger. People just don't break them in correctly, I guess there too impatient. The more agressive the clutch the more likely your going to lose the tranny. If you use a clutch that can give a little, you may not chirp 3rd but you won't see 75/90w oil in your rearview on a hard 2-3 shift and it should still last given the 100+% over stock power. Anyway for turbomax I would say some type of 6 puck sprung hub like the ACT, JWT, CM, or clutchnet should work, but everyday streetability is another thing.
