Maxima gets beat down by an LS1 WS6 M6...ouch!

I saw this Pewter LS1 WS6 get sideways out of a parking lot today, and decided to follow him, being as its the dead of winter in Michigan and there aren't too many cars to play around with. He gets on the freeway and I follow him. Once on the freeway he slows down alot so that I can get next to him, apparently he saw me behind him and wanted to play too.

Well, of course I know I'm gonna get ripped apart in this race, but I hadn't raced one of these from a roll yet, so I said what the heck, and took the bait. I get next to him, he downshifts and looks over, as do I. We're at about 60 at this point and both get on it. Well I let off at like 95 because of a few cars up ahead, he's probably going 105 or so at that point. So from 60-95 (just into 4th gear) he opened up about 2-3 lengths on me. Ouch. Time for some juice I think. Lots of juice.

Yes, they are way too much for a n/a Maxima. Here is a Video of my Prelude running a 12 second Camaro SS, that had a bad 13.1 second run.

He later ran a 12.3@115. My Prelude was having some tuning problems and didn't better a 14.2 that day. Even with a high 13, I would have been smoked bad!

On a side note my Cattman Y-Pipe has been ordered and will arrive this coming week. I will have a dyno run before and after the install if all goes well. Then I will go to the track to see how much quicker the Max is.

Whoops, sorry for getting so far off topic.

It's about damn time! You will love it man, trust me

P.S. Why are you two the only people in sight at that track?

We weren't the only two ppl there, I followed two guys in the SS's there, plus there were about 20 other cars. Slow day. I must have run about 30+ times!

I invested over $14K into that Prelude, and all I could get out of it was high 13's on a good day. Waste of money. I miss it though, it was a blast to drive!

Here are most of the mods, although I am leaving some out.

Iceman CAI
Jackson Racing Header
Random Technology Cat
2.5 inch custom cat back exhaust
Dynomax Muffler
B&M fpr
B&M short throw shift kit
Accel 300+wires
NGK 7 series platinums(one step colder)
CM 10 lb flywheel
CM stage 4 ceramic puck clutch
Head Work (by KMS, stage 2)
5 angle valve job (intake)(KMS)
3 angle valve job (exhaust)(KMS)
P&P (KMS)
Narrowed & Tapered Valves, Retainers (KMS)
Cams (WebCams, KMS Specs)
Power Honed(KMS)

I am hoping to exceed the Preludes n/a times with the Maxima. Its a tall order, but one that is possible. I know at the very least I can see high 13's n/a. With a s/c low 13's to high 12's should be possible.

Ha! we alwayts tease the Honda guys about them not having any torque. LS1 drivers can tease anyone they want to about torque.

Once I revved on a moidfied Cobra at a light. Of course he wasted me. At the next light, he said"hey man, dont break it." I said "nah, I just wanted to hear the sound yours makes."

I bet you miss the handling of the prelude. The Max is a boat compared to it.
