questions about the 5th gen muffler

Most people say that switching from 4th gen stock muffler to a 5th gen muffler gives minimal hp gains, so does that mean that the 222-190 hp difference between the generations is almost all due to the variable intake system?

Also, is it possible to remove the oval tip around the exhaust tips on the 5th gen muffler, or is it one piece? Thanks.

Switching mufflers period won't do a whole lot.

Yes you can take off the oval tip if you wish
