K&N filters

K&N filters

i have a genaric 3" cone filter i washed it the other day and the color did not go away... on the kn recharger kit it says it will turn white and when u spray the red oild on it it will be red again and mine did not turn white.....is it ok that i washed and reused it or do i need to change it

the old oil did not come off. did you use the K&N cleaner to remove the oil?

As long as it's not torn or anything, it should be fine. I assume when you mean washing you used the cleaning solution that comes in the K&N Recharger kit? That should turn the filter white, and then when you re-oil it you should see it turn red where the oil is. Its ok to get it wet, if that's what you are asking... After using the cleaner you should rinse it, let it air dry, and then re-oil and then install it.
