Ahh yes, modifying the bose plastic pods in the doors in order to fit deeper speakers into them. I did this when I installed my speakers, cause the magnets were so big they wouldnt fit in the pods. However I used a jig saw to do that one. I also had to modify the tweeter panels as well, but I used a pair of nippy snips instead of the dremel.

Oh, speaker stuff - when I read the subject first thing I thought of was that scene in Wayne's World where Garth is in that garage and starts playing with the impact wrench....

Hey 1Max2NV;

Are you going to use a separate Amplifier for your car stereo system install?

Are you going to feed more power to the door speakers and less to the rear?

Are you going to install a sub-woofer now or later?

My tweeters are in the A-Pillar. Did Nissan move them to the location in the picture on your year of Max?

Thanks,

White96MaxSE

Those are great sounding Phoenix Gold speakers. I had a some in my 95 max. In my 4th gen I was able to mount the tweeter behind the grill for the 61/2's. The imaging was not as good when compared to the location next to the door handle but it was completely stealth.

Tony, are you still using the Bose system to power those?? be careful cause by underpowering those you will eventrually blow them from distortion...

Nah...I had a 6 channel amp (PG XS6600) in the car for awhile now. I was only using it to power one sub. I just couldn't decide on a headunit, so I left the rest of the Bost system alone.

-Yes, 6 channel PG XS6600.
-I'm going to feed equal power to all 4 speakers. I can play with the gains so the front imaging will be stronger.
-I have a Kicker Solobaric S8L7 that's firing into the hatch hole from the trunk.
-Nissan moved the tweeter location every so often. It went back to the a-pillar on some 5th gen.

I used a jigsaw. Yeah, sounds unconventional, eh? but that's the only tool I had to work with, and it came out great. Just takes a little time...
