1998 Maxima Rear Lights
I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima ... For some odd reason, the rear lights (including brake light in window) will not turn off even when the engine is turned off. I disconnected the battery so not to drain its power. Any suggestions regarding resolving this situation would be much appreciated ! Thank you !

It is most likely that the brake light switch on the brake pedal is the problem. The most common cause is that the small plastic "bumper" that actually touches and presses on the brake light switch has disintegrated and fallen out.
There are 2 switches on the brake pedal, one for the brake lights and one for the cruise control, so you have a comparison next to each other.
And you should be posting this in the 4th generation forum, not this one.

Thank you very much for the prompt response to my inquiry ... I will look for the switches in the morning ... I am assuming I need to look under the the hood, as I am not familiar enough with how the brake pedal works.
I am new to this forum (first day) and was not aware of where I should post my thread. I will take note for future postings ... Thank you once again !!!!
