Windshield hit by rock
Help. I just got a left over 2018 two weeks ago. On Wednesday a rock hit my windshield and put a huge hole in it. Insurance probably won’t cover it. Is it covered under warranty or am I SOL? I called a few places and I’m looking at about $300. I mean I just got the car 100 miles on it.

Hi Sabrina, What bad luck that was. The last time I had windshield damage (on a Mercedes) I enquired about insurance coverage versus paying out of pocket. Broken winshield, if I'm not mistaken, is considered a safety hazard and I think most insurance companies will cover it. I doubt it is covered under warranty since the damage was caused by a "road hazard". But it's worth asking. Safelite quoted about $350 installed for an out-of-pocket job but said it would be about $1500 for an insurance claim. With a $500 deductible paying out of pocket made more sense. The job took about an hour or so. Good luck on getting yours replaced quickly and affordably.

check your insurance coverage to see if you have glass. Most glass coverage is 0 deductible. if you don't have that coverage ask your insurance carrier to add it on, it should only be a few dollars which pays for itself after the first claim.
Warranty will NOT cover this repair.

You can afford a 2018 maxima but don't know what to do about a broken windshield? Come on man...comprehensive insurance will likely cover it. Several states require comp to cover this at a 0 dollar deductible, others may not restrict. If you have Collision coverage, you will likely have comprehensive.

Warranty is defined as anything as manufacture defect, not by godly act of nature such as hail, earthquake or flying rock even blue ice fallen from the sky that struck your car and also includes accidents which are not warrantable that’s what car insurance is for and sorry to hear about a broken windshield

Typical insurance coverage is a repair for any damage that's the size of a dollar or smaller. Anything larger cannot be repaired and windshield replacement is covered, less your deductible.

Very HIGH probability indeed! If there's a lien, there's full coverage.
Hopefully, it's done already and covered.
They can fix big chips. And just about every chip will crack sooner or later. If it's below the threshold, help it along. LOL
