Alternator Amps ???

How many amps are adequate for a 4th gen alt?

I believe that the stock alternator is either 100 or 110 amp/hr.

I was told that the GXE and SE have a 105-ampere alternator and the GLE has a 120-ampere alternator.

Actually I think the amps are the same down the model line. It's in the FSM...I will look it up later on today.

no .. he is right.. the GLE's have higher amperage.. we have argued with medic about this over and over.. but no one was wrong.. his GLE just has higher wattage.. if you call the dealership and ask them.. its two diff Hitachi Altenators

According to my 97 FSM, its either 100 or 110 depending on the alternator. It lists the former as Standard with model LR1100-711, and the latter as Option LR1110-709. It does not specify how they differ in what trim package, etc, but I have a feeling it is part of the cold weather package (heated mirrors, seats, heavy starter and heavy alternator, low washer fluid warning lamp).
