Pop charger question

while this may be better than a popcharger it in noway matches a cold air intake

K&N uses premium quality oiled cotton gauze sandwiched between layers of wire screen.
This special design permits very high flow rates, improves throttle response and very long filter life.
Increases air flow, horsepower increases from 4 HP is typical

This high-flow air filter has the same dimensions as the factory air filter, requires no modifications to install.

It depends on what you want to do
I am not looking to take my car to the track
I am not looking to be the fastest maxima it is fast enough
I am not looking to alter my new maxima by taking out the air box.
For what ! The stock set works quite well
I am looking for the benefits on the K&N filter
A little more power ,throttle response ,gas mileage and a longer lasting filter

CAI->OSCAI->JWT->stock

He took off the lower CAI tube which resulted in a 0.2 increase of his time. He put the lower tube back on and the times went right back to what is was before the swap. Fluke? Perhaps, I don't know. All I know is what I've experienced myself and what I've seen on other cars.
Just presenting my evidence.
Either way, they're both better than stock.
Peace....

Uh oh! Clee, briguy, neal, dave

All 5spd max's, the lagg is felt greater in auto's. My friend with a '95 5spd has a pop and he feels no lag. It is definatally a tranny thing.
I know all yall like Dave, Briguy, nealoc have done pop tests, but have you actually done a back to back comparison with a CAI with YOU being the driver of both? I dont think so. Untill someone does a well layed out professional test of both, Im stickin wit my cold air.

Ummmm... he's a 5th gen ... we're 4th gens.
You know there are differences between 5th gens and 4th gens, right?
And if by "pop tests" you mean, track times ... then yes, they've done "pop tests"... and so far, no CAI owners have been as fast as the owners of popchargers on the track.

I am intrigued by this intake issue (hence me trying all intakes) and am trying to get to the bottom of this myself but I think to do it right and have a definitive answer the methodology must be consistent and controlled.
Who knows, maybe it's pop for 4th gens and CAI for 5th?
Again, if there is a difference between the two intakes it's not by much, so either one is fine.
Peace...

My Max is fast, no b.s. VG, too! I believe also that it depends on the application. I am working on a CAI right now, though, and if my tests prove you right I will give you the credit for 3rd Gens but again I think it kinda depends on the application.
