another y pipe question
#1
If I'm only adding a new y pipe to my maxima, but leaving everything else stock, will this still make a difference in my performance? If it does, what else would I need (catalytic converter, midpipe, muffler, etc?) to change so that I can maximize the usage the new y pipe. Thanks

You'll need at least some sort of intake.

I would think you would still gain a good chunk of low end power. But you probably won't have as much high end. The Y-pipe is an exhaust component. It helps air move out. But you're not putting as much in. If you want to make your car feel and sound like it came with a bigger engine than it did from the factory. Then maybe Y-pipe and stock intake box is a good choice. The car should still retain its quietness. But then again, you will hear the Y-pipe more under hard acceleration. Which may be kinda cool.. =) It hisses like a turbo.. =)
