Finally beat that pesky 92 Accord......

Well, a few weeks ago I posted that my friend in his 92 accord 5 speed with headers and exhaust beat my 95 GLE with intake and cat back by about a car or two till 80 mph. I grew tired very quickly of his telling everybody about the race, so we raced again tonight and I beat him by about a car till 80-90. This time he had the added friend in the car (last time I had a fat kid riding with me), and this week I also torque braked. That really helped me off the line, but how bad is it for my car? Also, I have 81k on my car, is it time to get my cat conv cleaned, or get a new one? When do they start to clog up?

You guys need to race at a track with no passengers. That will settle it, you better win...

This is embarrassing, the Accord has about as much power as a 4cyl Camry which suck. Now it seems apparent from your 2 races that something is happening here and you just need to find out what it is and fix it. So here's what I think; either one you suck at driving, two the other guy is one hell of a driver or three your car is having a major problem somewhere. As I and everybody else said in your last thread; there is no way that a 92 Accord with maybe a 155hp given the mods he's done should even come close to beating a Maxima; especially a 95 5spd with your mods which probably put's you around 205hp at the crank. In either case when you do race again; race w/o the fat kid in either car; just race your car vs his car, driver vs driver and stomp the **** out of him, smoke him, dust him, whatever just beat him and beat him bad.

Re: Finally beat that pesky 92 Accord......

torque braking isn't too healthy, I wouldn't make it a habit!

but I still can't figure why some of you think the '92 Accord is soooooo slow...a well maintained Accord Vtec with a good driver should easily hit mid/low 15's stock(I've seen it twice, 15.96 and a 16.17) so modded I can't see why there isn't a chance it beat him since he's an auto! now against a 5spd Max, there would be no excuse!

is he vtec? i didnt think they were vtec in 92...anyways, i think im gonna get a 5spd very soon, cause this auto is getting on my nerves....no more torque braking for me! what does it do anyways? is it bad for my brakes, or for my axle too?

4th Gen Accords 90-93 no vtec. they run mid 17's to 16s stock.depends how healthy and auto/man.
Modded h22 swap low 15's, all motor w/ stripped interior mid 15's
don't ask how I know
Your car seems sick or your friend has more mods than you know of, i think the latter since you have way more hp and basic bolt ons i/h/e are not going to be a maxima. its like 150hp vs 190hp
